Yavatmal, Dec 9 (PTI) Vidarbha statehood supporters have withdrawn their planned demonstration near the Maharashtra Assembly here on December 12. The rally was planned on Monday, opening day of the winter session for State legislature here, to press for the demand to grant statehood to Vidarbha region in Eastern Maharashtra. Addressing a press conference here, Jambhuwantrao Dhote, a former MP and a leading figure of Vidarbha movement, said the step has been taken to ensure that the legislature discusses important issues related to farmers. "We want the State Legislature to deliberate upon the burning issues such as crop failure and the Government's bail out package for farmers," Dhote said. Any morcha or bandh would adversely affect discussion on these issues.
