Wednesday was a choppy day for the market right from the start with the Nifty dipping in and out of the red.

Bad inflation data and little help from global markets kept the Nifty on a downward trend. It is attempt to pullback was short-lived, and the Nifty finally closed 37 points down at 4,763.

The Sensex too lost its hold on the 16,000 level and closed at 15,881 levels.
