CNBC-TV18 is a clear leader in the English business news genre with an All India market share of 48 percent, according to the first Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings released today.
Among rival television channels, ET NOW has a market share of 38 percent, Bloomberg 8 percent and NDTV 6 percent.
BARC is promoted by three industry associations - broadcasters, advertisers and media agencies - to develop a reliable television audience measurement system for India, with an estimated television audience of 153 million homes.
Funded by the apex bodies representing the key stakeholders, it uses the latest technology in a transparent framework to give the Indian advertising and broadcast industry the ratings.
