The United States on Sunday released video footage showing elements of its strikes on Iran, including destroyers firing missiles, aircraft carriers launching combat jets and repeated strikes on Iranian military targets.

The footage was shared by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which said in a statement: “The Iranian regime was warned. CENTCOM is now delivering swift and decisive action as directed.” The command did not specify the exact locations struck or attribute individual attacks to US or Israeli forces.

The operation has been described by US officials as Operation Epic Fury, while Israel has referred to its participation as Operation Roaring Lion.

In a post on X, US Defence Chief Pete Hegseth said that, on President Donald Trump’s orders, the Department of War commenced “OPERATION EPIC FURY — the most lethal, most complex, and most-precision aerial operation in history.”

Hegseth said, “The Iranian regime had their chance, yet refused to make a deal — and now they are suffering the consequences.”

The video release follows confirmation by Iranian state media that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the strikes. Fars News Agency reported that Khamenei was killed at his workplace compound in Tehran.

Iran has announced a 40-day mourning period following Khamenei’s death, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it would launch the “heaviest offensive in history” against Israel, according to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). In a separate statement, the IRGC said the “criminal and terrorist act” by the United States and Israel violated “religious, moral, legal, and international norms” and vowed “severe, decisive, and regret-inducing punishment.”

The escalation began early Saturday when the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran. Trump had earlier said the military operation would continue with heavy bombing throughout the week.

Iran has since carried out strikes targeting US military bases, Israel and other locations in the region, according to Iranian authorities. US officials have said there were no combat-related American casualties.

The developments have also disrupted air travel in the region. India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation said 410 flights of domestic carriers were cancelled on February 28 due to airspace restrictions over Iran and parts of the Middle East. A further 444 flights are expected to be cancelled on March 1.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it was maintaining close coordination with airlines to ensure compliance with safety and operational regulations. The ministry advised passengers to check flight status with airlines before travelling to airports.
