In his Christmas Eve greetings on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump attacked the Democrats, branding them “radical left scum” during his vacation at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
The 79-year-old Republican president marked Christmas Eve by spreading some festive cheer, taking part in NORAD Santa tracker calls and sending holiday greetings to US troops around the world. The goodwill, however, did not extend to Democrats.
“Merry Christmas to all, including the Radical Left Scum that is doing everything possible to destroy our Country, but are failing badly. We no longer have Open Borders, Men in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, or Weak Law Enforcement,” he said on his Truth Social platform.
Trump reiterated claims about the accomplishments of his time in office. “What we do have is a Record Stock Market and 401K’s, Lowest Crime numbers in decades, No Inflation, and yesterday, a 4.3 GDP, two points better than expected. Tariffs have given us Trillions of Dollars in Growth and Prosperity, and the strongest National Security we have ever had. We are respected again, perhaps like never before,” he added.
Trump has frequently used past Christmas messages to criticise his political opponents. In 2024, he posted, “Merry Christmas to the Radical Left Lunatics,” while during his first term he shared an early-morning message on December 24, 2017, attacking a senior FBI official he accused of bias, along with the news media.
The US President also marked Christmas Eve this time by quizzing children calling in about what presents they were excited about receiving, while promising not to let a "bad Santa" infiltrate the country and even suggesting that a stocking full of coal may not be so bad.
"We want to make sure that Santa is being good. Santa's a very good person," Trump said while speaking to kids ages 4 and 10 in Oklahoma. "We want to make sure that he's not infiltrated, that we're not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa." He didn't elaborate.
