Pakistani journalist and vocal Asim Munir critic Moeed Pirzada on Monday posted a cryptic review of "Dhurandhar", praising the movie's powerful cinematography but questioning director Aditya Dhar's fictional depiction of certain events. However, what stood out in his brief review was a scathing dig at the Pakistani generals, whom he described as "far more dangerous" than the ones shown in the movie.
"Watched Dhurandhar- Much talked about Indian Movie. Very Interesting! Powerful Cinematography! Detailed Comment later! However found one thing common between its Director, Aditya Dhar & ISI Generals! Both are capable of creating fictional events under the excuse of “Inspired from Real Life," he said.
Pirzada, who is currently in US and was recently convicted by a Pakistani anti-terrorism court, remarked about a particular scene in the movie where all those involved in the Mumbai 26/11 attack are in one room. He said that while this was a fictional depiction of the events, what is the "excuse" of ISI generals who named multiple journalists across different zones in a single FIR.

"Dhar creates scenes in Liyari with all characters of Mumbai 26/11 in one room. Dhar’s excuse is: Fiction! I wonder what is the Excuse of ISI Generals? How they do collect all Journalists, living in different parts of the world, in different time zones in one FIR on May 9? While Generals of Pakistan don’t have Dhar’s cinematography, they certainly have his imagination of creating events!" he said.
He added that while Dhar creates events in film studio, the "Generals of Pakistan are far more dangerous". "They create events on Ground! Who knows better than Aditya Dhar?" he remarked.
Pirzada was among the journalists convicted by the Pakistani court for allegedly inciting violence during riots in 2023 linked to the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The journalists were convicted in terrorism-related cases linked to online activity in support of jailed Khan.
Earlier this month, Pirzada's house in US caught fire last week under "mysterious circumstances", leading to strong speculations on social media about possible foulplay. The timing has raised questions as the incident came just days after two other prominent critics of the Pakistan military establishment — Adil Raja and Shehzad Akbar — reported attacks and break-ins over the past week.
