Iran has initiated another sweeping barrage of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles targeting Israel and American military installations across the Middle East, just hours after pledging retaliation for the killing of its highest authority, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

News outlets report that powerful explosions were heard in Dubai as well as above Doha, the capital of Qatar, amid the renewed Iranian assault. Both the UAE and Qatar maintain close ties with Washington, and Tehran’s campaign appears intended to warn neighboring states that aligning with its adversaries will bring repercussions.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that during the fifth phase of Operation True Promise, four drones struck a vessel transporting munitions for U.S. naval forces at the Jebel Ali anchorage, leaving it severely damaged and effectively inoperable after multiple blasts.

The Jebel Ali port is a is the largest seaport in the Middle East and one of the busiest container ports in the world, serving as a major gateway for trade between Asia, Europe, and Africa.

The IRGC further claimed that an American naval facility in Kuwait’s Abdullah Mubarak district was targeted by four ballistic missiles and a dozen drones, resulting in the destruction of key infrastructure and numerous US casualties. It also stated that an MST-class logistics warship supplying fuel to American ships in the Indian Ocean was hit by Iranian Qadr 380 missiles.

Iran reportedly struck Dubai International Airport—one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs—which has suspended flights since the escalation began. Earlier attacks allegedly hit the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai’s iconic man-made island, as well as the luxury landmark hotel Burj Al Arab.

The US and Israel had conducted joint aerial assaults throughout Iran on Saturday, following deadlocked nuclear negotiations and accusations that Tehran had restarted sensitive atomic activities. The coordinated campaign, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, focused on several prominent Iranian cities, including the capital, Tehran.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran since 1989, was reportedly killed in those strikes. The IRGC vowed severe retribution against those it described as responsible for assassinating the nation’s Supreme Leader, promising what it called the fiercest retaliatory action ever directed at the US and Israel.

António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, urged an immediate halt to the fighting and cautioned that continued escalation could have serious global repercussions. The European Union and Russia have likewise appealed for restraint and a reduction in tensions.
