US President Donald Trump repeated claims of having prevented multiple global conflicts while addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos, again asserting that his leadership had averted major wars.
Speaking to political and business leaders, Trump said: “I stopped so many wars, including India-Pakistan war,” presenting the assertion as part of what he described as a record of decisive intervention during his time in office. He claimed his actions had prevented large-scale violence and saved millions of lives, though he did not provide details on the specific conflicts he cited.
Earlier on Friday, Trump repeated a controversial claim that he had helped avert a war between India and Pakistan. He said Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had thanked him for intervening and for saving “at least 10 million lives”.
Trump has previously made similar statements about tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, portraying his role as decisive in preventing escalation. He again cited the alleged intervention during his Davos remarks, framing it as part of a broader record of conflict prevention during his time in office.
According to the White House, the eight conflicts Trump claims to have stopped involve:
The claims were made as Trump sought to project himself as a global dealmaker on his return to the international stage. His remarks, however, are likely to draw scrutiny, as Indian officials have in the past rejected suggestions that external mediation played a role in managing crises with Pakistan.
Trump did not elaborate on how the alleged interventions took place, but he insisted that his leadership had saved millions of lives and reduced the risk of wider conflict.
