The Middle East has been dragged into an escalating conflict after the US and Israel launched a wave of strikes, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Khamenei’s death came following a wide-scale US-Israel military attack on Iran aimed at dismantling its nuclear program and removing the country’s leadership.

The conflict is no longer confined to the US, Israel, and Iran; several other countries are now affected. Retaliatory strikes have targeted multiple nations, including Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, and Oman, as Iran threatens its “most intense offensive operation” against US bases.

Iran has launched attacks on several US allies across the Middle East in response to American and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory. The US Embassy in Kuwait has urged Americans to shelter in place amid missile and drone threats.

List of US bases attacked

  • Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar: Largest US military base in the region, serving as a crucial headquarters for US Central Command (CENTCOM). Qatari authorities reported intercepting incoming missiles using anti-missile systems.
  • Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE: US air base in Abu Dhabi hosting around 5,000 personnel and advanced equipment. Locals reported loud noises and smoke rising from the base area.
  • Ali Al-Salem Air Base, Kuwait: Also known as “The Rock,” consolidates US Air Force operations near the Iraqi border. Explosions and air-raid sirens were reported in the vicinity.
  • NSA Bahrain: A key naval command center for regional operations. Several videos circulated showing smoke pouring from the base in Manama after a missile strike.
  • Muwaffaq Al-Salti Air Base, Jordan: Iranian missiles reportedly struck the base, with Jordan’s air defenses intercepting two missiles.
  • Ain Al-Asad Air Base, Iraq: Smoke and explosions were reported near this base in western Iraq.
  • Erbil Air Base, Iraq: On high alert and targeted by several Iranian missile strikes.
  • Konarak Naval Base, Iran: Commercial satellite images indicate extensive damage at multiple Iranian military installations following US-Israel strikes.

List of countries involved:

  • Cyprus: A suspected drone strike hit RAF Akrotiri. Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides said, "a Shahed unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into the military facilities of the British Bases in Akrotiri, causing minor material damage."
  • UAE: Dubai and Abu Dhabi experienced unrest as Iran launched retaliatory strikes on multiple Middle East nations.
  • Kuwait: The US Embassy warned American citizens to remain indoors amid missile and UAV threats. A US Air Force F-15 fighter jet crashed, with the pilot ejecting safely. The cause is under investigation.
  • Bahrain: Iranian strikes hit Mina Salman port and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama, causing smoke and explosions. At least one person was killed.
  • Oman: Two drones targeted facilities at Duqm Port, injuring one worker.
  • Lebanon: Israel intensified strikes on Hezbollah-linked locations. The head of Hezbollah’s parliamentary faction and at least 10 others were killed. Smoke was also seen rising from the US Embassy in Kuwait.
  • Saudi Arabia: Iran’s Shahed-136 drone struck Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura oil facility. Explosions were heard in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia condemned attacks on the UAE, Bahrain,
  • Qatar, Jordan, and Kuwait are warning of “dire consequences” for violations of state sovereignty and international law.
  • Jordan: Jordanian military reported downing two ballistic missiles.
  • Qatar: Qatar was targeted by 44 missiles and eight drones during Iranian attacks on Saturday, according to an official briefed on the developments to the news agency Reuters.

Regional unrest and civilian impact

Air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, while blasts were reported across Dubai, Doha, and Manama, shortly after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) warned of a new wave of missile attacks from Iran.

Explosions have continued to reverberate through capitals in Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE’s largest cities since the start of the US-Israel campaign against Iran on Saturday.

Civilian targets, including hotels and airports, have also been hit amid the escalating regional conflict.
