The Ministry of Railways has launched its new SuperApp in India. The app is being pitched as an all-in-one app for users that offers a wide range of railway services under one roof. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app integrates multiple railway services into a single platform.
Currently, the app is available in beta to select users who register for the “Early Access” program on Android and iOS.
Features of the SwaRail SuperApp
The SwaRail app consolidates various railway-related services previously available on separate applications. The key features include:
Train ticket bookings
Unreserved ticket and platform ticket booking
Parcel and freight enquiries
Train and PNR status enquiries
Food ordering services
Rail Madad for complaint management
In addition to these, the app integrates services to provide unified access to different railway functions. For example, PNR status checks also display related train information. The app eliminates the need to switch between different applications for railway-related services.
Single Sign-On and User Login
One of the major highlights of the SwaRail app is the ability to login into the app easily either by using UTS apps’ credentials or by using RailConnect credentials. It also offers the option for new registration.
Multiple login options, including m-PIN and biometric authentication, have been introduced for secure access. Guest users can access certain services using a mobile number and OTP verification.
How to download SwaRail app
The beta version of the SwaRail SuperApp can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. All you have to do is head to Play Store and search for the SwaRail app to enrol on the beta program. On Google Play Store, the beta program is full as of this moment.
On iPhones, you can download the TestFlight app and look for SwaRail app within the app. Once you see it, hit the ‘Install’ button to download the beta version of the app on your device.
How to get started with SwaRail app
Once the app is installed on your device, open it and log in using your existing UTS or RailConnect user ID and password. If you don’t have one, you can also create a new account and then use it to log in to the app.
After logging in, you’ll need to set an m-PIN for future logins. The app also allows users to use their biometrics for login and other authentications.
That’s it. You can now tap on respective options on the home screen to access that service. For instance, you can tap on Train Reservation to find and book train tickers. Similarly, you can tap on the PNR Status option to check the booking status. In addition to this, you also have the option to order food online for your train journey and even track your train’s live status.
