Sony and Honda’s joint mobility venture is blurring the line between cars and living rooms in a way few people expected. Sony Honda Mobility has announced that its upcoming electric vehicle, AFEELA, will be the world’s first car to support PS Remote Play as an in-car entertainment feature.
In simple terms, this means drivers and passengers will be able to stream PlayStation games directly from their home console into the car. Using the AFEELA’s in-vehicle infotainment system, users can remotely access and control games running on a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4, all from inside the vehicle.
The idea is not about gaming while driving. Instead, it is aimed at moments when the car is parked, charging, or when passengers want something more engaging than a movie or music during long journeys. With a large integrated display and premium audio system built into the cabin, AFEELA turns downtime inside the car into something closer to a gaming lounge on wheels.
Sony Honda Mobility says this integration reflects how it views the future of mobility. Rather than treating cars purely as machines that get people from one place to another, the company wants the cabin to feel like a personal, emotional space. Bringing PlayStation’s popular Remote Play feature into the car is meant to make travel time feel less like waiting and more like living.
Izumi Kawanishi, President and COO of Sony Honda Mobility, said the feature fits directly into AFEELA’s vision of transforming the travelling space into a more immersive and engaging experience. The focus, he noted, is on elevating the overall journey, not just adding another screen.
There are a few practical requirements. To use PS Remote Play inside the car, users will need a PlayStation console set up at home and a reliable internet connection. Sony Honda Mobility recommends a stable broadband connection of around 15 Mbps for smooth gameplay, with a minimum requirement of 5 Mbps. Like all streaming-based services, performance will depend on network conditions.
The announcement highlights how AFEELA is positioning itself as a technology-forward vehicle rather than a conventional electric car. By combining Sony’s strength in entertainment and gaming with Honda’s automotive expertise, the company is betting that future car buyers will care as much about digital experiences as they do about range or performance.
While details around launch timelines and markets are still limited, the move makes one thing clear: cars are becoming another screen in our connected lives. And with AFEELA, Sony and Honda are making a strong case that the future of in-car entertainment could be interactive, personal, and unmistakably PlayStation-powered.
