Samsung’s purported new smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Slim, has been spotted on various benchmarking websites and reports, indicating that the device indeed exists. While the Galaxy S25 series, with the base S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, is set to debut on January 22, a Chinese tipster on Weibo suggests that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 Slim at a later date in the second quarter of 2025.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim expected launch timeline
According to Weibo user Setsuna Digital, the upcoming Galaxy S25 Slim will launch in May this year. This means that next week’s Galaxy Unpacked event may only see the unveiling of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The Korean tech giant may potentially also tease the S25 Slim at the event.
Samsung's strategy of releasing teasers of their upcoming devices during different events confirms this theory. Last year in January, the Galaxy Ring was teased during the S24 series launch but was introduced in the market only later in June 2024. However, it’s unclear whether the latest release timeline for the Galaxy S25 Slim is only for China or the global market.
As per the leaks and benchmarking platforms, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is said to sport a 6.6-inch AMOLED panel and may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Moreover, the smartphone could be backed by a 5,000 mAh battery and may include a triple camera setup. This could include a 200MP primary shooter, 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto lens. For selfies, the smartphone may include a 32MP front camera.
