OnePlus Open 2 may not launch in first half of 2025: Here is what we know

The OnePlus Open 2, initially expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025, has reportedly been delayed and will now debut in the second quarter of the year. Notably, the original OnePlus Open, the company’s first foldable device, received widespread acclaim from critics and users alike. Fans eagerly anticipated a successor in 2024, but OnePlus had already planned its release for 2025.

As per a tipster Sanju Chodhurary, the OnePlus Open 2 will be launched in the second half of 2024. The phone is likely to be the rebadged version of the Oppo Find N5, which is expected to be launched in China in the first quarter of 2025.

The OnePlus Open 2 is expected to bring several upgrades based on recent leaks and rumors. Reports suggest it could be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, offering better speed and efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in its predecessor.

One major anticipated improvement is the inclusion of wireless charging, a feature missing from the original OnePlus Open, which many users found disappointing. Additionally, the device may feature an IPX8 water resistance rating and an “anti-fall body structure,” potentially making it more durable and better suited to handle accidental drops.

The foldable is rumored to be thinner, lighter, and equipped with improved battery life, enhancing portability and usability. Camera upgrades are also expected, including a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a triple 50MP rear camera setup, which could elevate its photography capabilities.

These features, if accurate, address several shortcomings of the first-generation model and suggest the OnePlus Open 2 could offer a more refined and user-friendly experience, making it a strong contender in the foldable smartphone market.
