Oakley and Meta have launched a new pair of smart glasses in India called the Oakley Meta Vanguard. The glasses are aimed at people who are serious about sports, fitness, and outdoor training. Instead of being just sunglasses with tech added on, the Oakley Meta Vanguard is built specifically for workouts, long runs, cycling, and high-action sports.
The product is a result of a partnership between Oakley, known for its performance eyewear, and Meta, which brings the AI and smart features. The companies say the idea was to create glasses that athletes can actually use while moving, training, and competing, without stopping to check a phone or smartwatch.
Price and availability
The Oakley Meta Vanguard is priced starting at Rs 52,300 in India. The full collection is now available at leading optical stores, including Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters.
Oakley is offering the glasses in four frame and lens combinations, with black and white frame options paired with different PRIZM lenses.
Specs and features
The Oakley Meta Vanguard is designed for hands-free use during workouts. It comes with a built-in 12 megapixel camera that can record videos in up to 3K resolution. The camera has a wide field of view and can shoot slow motion and time-lapse videos. This allows users to record runs, rides, or sports sessions from their own point of view without pressing any buttons.
The glasses also include open-ear speakers, which let users hear music, calls, and voice responses without blocking outside sounds. This is useful for running or cycling on busy roads. Oakley says the speakers are louder than earlier versions, and the five-microphone system helps reduce wind noise during calls.
Battery life is rated at up to nine hours of regular use, with around six hours of continuous audio. The charging case adds up to 36 more hours, and a quick charge gives 50 percent battery in about 20 minutes.
For fitness tracking, the glasses can connect with Garmin and other fitness apps through Meta AI. Users can ask simple voice questions like how their workout is going or check heart rate progress without looking down. A small status light in the corner of the frame shows whether key fitness targets are being met.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard also supports Hindi voice commands, including calling, messaging, taking photos, and controlling music. Meta AI now includes an option to use the voice of Deepika Padukone as the assistant.
Built for tough conditions, the glasses have an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and are designed to fit comfortably with helmets and caps. Oakley’s PRIZM lenses improve contrast and color, helping athletes see more clearly in different outdoor conditions.
