2025 was the year when people became far more conscious about the way they lived, and a large part of that shift happened inside the kitchen. Healthier eating stopped being a resolution and slowly turned into a routine that people actively tried to build. But in a country like India—where food doesn’t just change state to state but transforms with every region, community and even family—giving up the comfort dishes you grew up with is rarely simple. Most of us still crave pakodas on a rainy day, tikkis in the evening, and fries when nothing else feels right.

That is why appliances like air fryers have quietly moved from being niche gadgets to becoming essential counter-top companions. They promise a middle path: a way to enjoy familiar textures and flavours without drowning food in oil. For someone trying to transition into a cleaner, more balanced way of eating, that compromise matters. And it’s in that context that the Morphy Richards 5L Classic Crisp Pro steps in—not as a trendy tool, but as a practical piece of equipment meant to fit into real Indian kitchens where cravings and health goals are constantly negotiating with each other.
Morphy Richards has taken a familiar approach here: A tall chamber, a curved body and a dark navy blue finish that blends into most kitchens without trying to stand out. What you immediately notice is two knobs — one for temperature, one for the timer. That single decision sets the tone for the entire product. It is straightforward, tactile and reliable.

The 5-litre basket size also places it in a useful middle zone. It is large enough to cook a batch of fries or a plate of tikkas for the family, but not so large that it dominates the countertop.

The handle is cool to touch, which allows you to pull the basket out mid-cook without worrying about heat transfer – shake the ingredients and insert back for the cooking. The basket and accessories come with a non toxic non-stick coating, which is the kind of convenience that matters more after weeks of use than on day one..
The build itself feels steady. The knobs have defined resistance, the basket slides in cleanly and locks securely, and the footprint is manageable even in smaller kitchens.
As mentioned, the feature set is simple here. The biggest additions that make a practical difference are the dual-fan system and the adjustable controls.

The dual-fan setup improves air circulation inside the chamber, which is noticeable when cooking foods that usually require flipping. Even without manually moving the basket mid-way, the browning stays fairly even.
Temperature and timer adjustments can be made on the fly — a small but useful feature when you realise halfway through that something needs slightly more heat or an extra two minutes. The wattage sits at 1500W, which heats the chamber quickly and avoids long preheat cycles.
The non-stick coated basket and the included fry trays reduce the cleaning effort. You don’t have to scrub aggressively to remove masala residue or batter drips. A cleaning brush is included, and it does help around the corners of the tray.
Enough with the features, let’s get onto the cooking part. I tried cooking several things with it. Starting with roasting the paneer for the palak paneer – the browsing is even and it cooks it without making it too dry. It took me a couple of tries to get it right but once you have the idea of what needs to be cooked at what temperature and for how long, the results are even and well cooked.

To test it more, I added some corn kernels mixed with half teaspoon of oil, salt, chillies and pepper. The result – again was good and browsing was even as you see in the image.
The dual-fan system does play a role here. Items crisp faster and lose moisture at a more predictable rate. Fries develop a firmer outer layer without tasting dry, and marinated foods keep a softer interior as long as you avoid overcrowding.
Because this is a knob-based fryer, you do need to rely on your own timings rather than preset cooking profiles. As mentioned, once you get a sense of what temperatures work well — usually between 160°C to 200°C — the airflow and heating consistency make results repeatable.

But, it is not limited to these temperatures. The air fryer can go below these temperatures as well, there’s a clear marking of 80-degree celsius and this mode – I tried – for dehydrating fruits and it does it really well too.
One thing I also liked is the additional grille provided for the basked. It at times act as the base of the basket, but then you can use it as the lid to prevent things from flying around due to the heavy pressure or things like poha or makhana due to their lightweight nature. I used it for both the things and papad and the system is practical and works.

Cleaning is also straightforward. The non-stick surface lets most of the residue slide off with warm water and dish soap. Even after repeated masala-based cooking, the basket avoided stains or scratches as long as metal utensils stayed away.

There’s just one thing though. If you are looking at this air fryer to cook large batches – like for 5-6 people at a time, then the 5 liter size might feel like the limiting factor and also air fryers usually work best when they are loaded at around 80% basket capacity.
For larger families or when cooking for guests, the 5 L basket can feel restrictive: you often end up running multiple batches to serve more people.
That repeated cooking increases total time and reduces the convenience, especially when you’d expected a “one-go” meal prep.
The Morphy Richards 5L Classic Crisp Pro is built for households that want a dependable, everyday air fryer without unnecessary complications. Its strength lies in consistency.
The dual-fan system delivers even browning, the 5-litre basket handles most day-to-day batches well, and the non-stick accessories keep cleanup quick.

But, it isn’t meant for large families or big gatherings, where multiple rounds may be unavoidable, but for regular home cooking — snacks, small meals, reheating — it settles into a routine easily.
What you get here is a simple, steady appliance that does its job the same way every single time, and that reliability is ultimately what makes it worth considering, especially when it costs Rs 4,499.
