The folding iPhone may still be unannounced, but leaks are beginning to sound less speculative and more rehearsed. Jeff Pu, a research analyst at GK Securities, has shared a fresh investor note outlining what he believes will be the core specifications of Apple’s first foldable device, expected to debut later this year alongside the iPhone 18 lineup.
There are no dramatic surprises in Pu’s report. Most of the details align closely with rumours that have circulated for months. That makes it difficult to tell how much of this information is independently sourced and how much is echoing the same supply chain chatter. Still, Pu has a reasonably solid track record, which gives the claims some added credibility.
According to the note, the so-called iPhone Fold will be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, paired with 12GB of RAM. The processor is said to be built on TSMC’s N2, or 2nm, process. If accurate, this would mark a significant jump in efficiency and performance, and likely be essential for driving a large foldable display without compromising battery life.
Camera hardware appears firmly in flagship territory. Pu claims the device will feature two 48 megapixel rear cameras, most likely a wide and an ultrawide setup. On the front, there are reportedly two selfie cameras, one positioned for use when the phone is folded and another for when it is fully open. Both are said to be 18 megapixels, matching the new square-sensor front camera introduced on the iPhone 17 series.
Display sizes are also becoming clearer. When closed, the folding iPhone is expected to feature a 5.3-inch outer display. That is smaller than current iPhones and suggests a new aspect ratio optimised for one-handed use. When unfolded, the internal display reportedly expands to 7.8 inches, putting it squarely in small tablet territory.
Pu also notes that the chassis will use a mix of aluminium and titanium, continuing Apple’s recent push towards lighter but stronger materials. Connectivity is another shared detail, with both the iPhone Fold and the rest of the iPhone 18 lineup expected to adopt Apple’s next-generation C2 modem.
None of this confirms Apple’s plans outright, but the growing consistency across leaks points to one conclusion. After years of rumours, the folding iPhone finally feels less like a long-term experiment and more like an imminent product.
