Infamous hacker reveals identity: Who is he, origins, and the Crowdstrike ‘connection’

A rather notorious hacker, previously known by the aliases USDoD and EquationCorp, has revealed his identity. According to a report by HackRead, the individual responsible for several high-profile cyberattacks came forward and identified himself as Luan G, a 33-year-old Brazilian man from the state of Minas Gerais.

The hacker, who recently was in news for a massive data breach at the US-based API firm National Public Data, has a history of cybercrimes. In his latest attack, over 3.2 billion Social Security Numbers (SSNs) were leaked online. Previously, the hacker also breached the FBI’s security platform, InfraGard, compromising the personal information of 87,000 members. He has been responsible for many other significant data breaches and web scraping activities.

Luan admitted to HackRead that the Crowdstrike doxed him. In July 2024, the hacker revealed that he had stolen and subsequently released a 100,000-line Indicator of Compromise (IoC) list belonging to the cybersecurity firm. In retaliation, CrowdStrike reportedly identified and publicly revealed the hacker's identity within a month. In other words, doxed him.

In a statement to HackRead, the hacker said that a few other companies had doxed him earlier. “I want to say thank you, it is time to admit I got defeated and I will retire my Jersey. Yes, this is Luan speaking. I won’t run, I’m in Brazil, the same city where I was born.”

He also said that he he wanted “this to happen, I can’t live with multiple lives and it is time to take responsibility for every action of mine and pay the price doesn’t matter how much it may cost me. This is not my end.”

Luan further said that he will meet the Brazilian authorities. “I’m coming to meet you, I’m not a threat, in fact, I can do much for my country,” he said in the statement.
