Google has finally updated its last generation Chromecast streaming devices and announced its latest set-up streaming box, the Google TV Streamer. It doubles as a smart home hub for Google Home and Matter devices. Unlike older Chromecast models, the Google TV Streamer is designed to sit in front of your TV to improve connectivity with other smart home devices.
The TV Streamer has a 22% faster processor when compared with the last-generation Chromecast 4K model, which was launched in 2020. It also offers double the RAM (to 4GB) and four times more onboard storage (to 32GB).
Google TV Streamer 4K: Price, availabilityThe Google TV Streamer costs $99 and is available for preorder. It will have its first sale on September 24. It comes in two colors: Porcelain and Hazel, and is currently in the US market only.
The Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and Chromecast with Google TV (HD) will still be available, while supplies last. Google will continue to support all existing Chromecast devices with ongoing updates.

It also has support for 800+ free live TV channels. This streaming device features a 22% faster processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage, ensuring smooth navigation and quick app switching.
Further, it supports 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for a cinematic experience. The TV Streamer has Google Gemini (AI) support to curate content suggestions across all the subscriptions.
Along with the set-top box, the company has introduced a new voice remote with the device, which now has a new customisable button to immediately open their favourite app. It also has a new ‘find my remote’ button at the back of the box, which will activate beeping on the remote to locate it.
