Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has surpassed 750 million monthly active users, marking a sharp jump in adoption over the past quarter. The figure was disclosed during Alphabet’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings and positions Gemini as one of the most widely used consumer AI products in the market.
Just one quarter ago, Google reported around 650 million monthly active users for Gemini, pointing to rapid growth in a short span of time. The chatbot has now overtaken Meta AI, which has reported close to 500 million monthly users. Even so, Gemini remains slightly behind its biggest rival, ChatGPT, which analysts estimate had roughly 810 million monthly active users towards the end of 2025.
The surge follows the launch of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced model to date. The company claims the new version delivers responses with greater depth and nuance, particularly when used inside Search’s AI mode. CEO Sundar Pichai said the rollout of Gemini 3 has been a “positive driver” for engagement and usage across Google’s products.
Pichai also stressed that Google plans to maintain momentum through continued investment and rapid iteration. According to the company, Gemini now plays a growing role not just in the standalone app, but across Search, developer tools and enterprise APIs.
Google has also begun experimenting with pricing to broaden Gemini’s appeal. The company recently introduced a lower-cost subscription tier called Google AI Plus, priced at $7.99 per month. While the plan launched too recently to affect the latest quarterly numbers, executives expect it to attract more budget-conscious users over time. “We are focused on a free tier and subscriptions and seeing great growth,” chief business officer Philipp Schindler told investors.
Gemini’s rise comes alongside a strong financial quarter for Alphabet. The company crossed $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time, a milestone it partly attributed to growing demand for AI-powered services. Google has been investing heavily in its AI infrastructure, including the launch of its latest TPU accelerator chip, Ironwood, aimed at reducing reliance on Nvidia hardware.
In its earnings statement, Pichai said Google’s first-party AI models are now processing more than 10 billion tokens per minute through direct API usage. He added that the Gemini app itself has grown beyond 750 million monthly users, while Search saw record levels of usage as AI features drove what he described as an “expansionary moment”.
While competition in consumer AI remains intense, the latest figures suggest Google has successfully turned Gemini into a mass-market product. The next test will be whether that scale can translate into sustained revenue growth, especially as rivals push their own models, pricing strategies and developer ecosystems.
