Google is making its AI-powered tool, NotebookLM, a lot more useful for people around the world. On Monday, the company announced a big language upgrade for its Video Overviews and Audio Overviews features.
Video Overviews, which launched just last month, let users turn their notes, PDFs, and even images into short video presentations. Until now, the feature was only available in English. With the latest update, it now supports 80 languages, including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and many more. This is a welcome move for non-English speakers who want to learn and revise content in a more visual and interactive way.
Audio Overviews are also getting smarter. Previously, users could only access detailed summaries in English, while other languages were limited to shorter versions. Now, Google has expanded full, detailed summaries to more than 80 languages. At the same time, those who prefer quick highlights can still opt for shorter summaries. This flexibility means learners can choose how much detail they want without feeling restricted by language barriers.
The company says the update is part of its effort to make NotebookLM more inclusive and accessible to its global audience. Whether you’re a student revising study notes, a professional summarizing research, or someone simply trying to understand a long document, these enhancements promise to make learning easier and more engaging in your own language.
The rollout starts today and will be expanding globally over the next week, so users everywhere should soon be able to take advantage of the upgrades.
With these changes, Google is clearly signaling that it wants NotebookLM to be more than just an English-first tool—it’s aiming to make it a truly global platform for learning and productivity.
