Google makes it easier for Chrome users to access saved passwords, here’s how

After previously introducing it for iPhones, Google Chrome will now allow its users to access their saved passwords and bookmarks with a standard Google account sign-in approach.

Google Chrome has introduced a new ‘customized browsing experience,’ that includes the ability to view saved passwords and bookmarks across multiple devices. The best part is that it will allow you to access data on your Chrome browser to the device you log in to without having to enable the Chrome sync toggle.

This feature was previously introduced on iOS-based iPhones last year and will be soon rolled out for Google Chrome Android and desktop users. It will let you access saved passwords, payment info, and addresses. Currently, on Android, you also get bookmarks, reading lists, and settings, with more data types coming to the desktop Google Chrome in the future.

However, users who prefer not to link their browsing data with their Google account can choose to avoid signing in on Google Chrome. Google has also clarified that opting for this feature does not automatically save your browsing history or open previously running tabs, as that would require separate consent from the user.

Claire Charron, Chrome's product manager also added that "users increasingly expect to just sign in to get access to their stuff and sign out to keep it safe. Given this evolution of technology and user norms, we're continuing to make progress on transforming our legacy sync model into one that more seamlessly meets the expectation users have today."

The Chrome sync feature was first introduced in 2009 and was only available for users who were signed in to their Google account on the browser. However, this new feature will help users to access their saved data on Google Chrome across multiple devices, without worrying about remembering their ID or password.
