Fitbit recently brought an AI-based health coach for its premium users, which uses Google Gemini to analyse the health metrics and give tips on improving the well-being of its subscribers. However, its Android-only availability has been an obstacle for some. Thankfully, Google has announced that the public preview of its redesigned Fitbit app and health coaching service from Fitbit is opening to iPhone users starting this week.
Fitbit’s AI health coach is now available for iOS users
An official post on the Fitbit community forums explains that the Fitbit health coach now supports iOS users of Fitbit’s Premium subscription. Currently, the health tracker is offering a Public Preview of this AI personal health coach for iOS users that’s meant to work as a virtual fitness trainer, sleep coach, and health and wellness advisor.
Fitbit users can start with a five to ten minute conversation with the Gemini-powered coach to outline their motivations and goals, with the app then providing health insights every morning alongside customisable workout options and suggesting ideal sleeping patterns.
It also tracks vitals such as heart rate, temperature, and blood oxygen, with Gemini also investigating your health stats, drawing up plans for a fitness regime, pointing out areas to improve and other tips.
Google says the rollout will broadly continue in the next few weeks as part of a public preview phase. User feedback will shape the final version, with an integrated feedback tool available for testers. This Gemini AI-powered tool will also roll out in English to Fitbit Premium subscribers in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore on both iOS and Android. The expansion coincides with Apple’s rumoured ‘Health+’ service, which the company originally planned to launch alongside iOS 27 this year. However, a recent Bloomberg report suggests that the company has pulled back these plans for now.
