SoftBank-backed edtech company Unacademy has promoted Arooshi Singh, its Director of People Experience and Culture, to Head of Human Resource (HR).

Singh, who has been with the Bengaluru-based firm for over seven years, will now head the human resources department. CEO and co-founder Gaurav Munjal shared the news with employees via Slack, expressing excitement over Singh's promotion. Arooshi joined Unacademy in 2017 as an employee engagement and wellness expert and has since led various HR functions.

“I’m thrilled to share that Arooshi Singh, who has been with us for over seven incredible years, is being promoted to Head of HR,” said Munjal.

This marks the third major promotion at Unacademy in 2024. In January, Jagnoor Singh was promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Unacademy Centres, but he left the company in July.

More recently, in September the firm elevated company insider Abhishek Pipara to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its offline centres business, Moneycontrol learnt. Pipara will replace Pratik Dalal, who joined Unacademy from CRED in January 2024.

However, the past year has also seen several senior leadership exits, including the resignation of COO Vivek Sinha in August last year, Group CFO Subramanian Ramachandran in October, and co-founder and CTO Hemesh Singh in June 2024.

During FY24, Unacademy reported Rs 988 crore of revenues in a five percent decline compared to Rs 1,044 crore in FY23. It slashed losses by 62% to Rs 631 crore from Rs 1,678 crore in the previous year. It last raised funding in August 2021, where it snagged $440 million at a valuation of $3.44 Billion.
