Electronic Arts (EA) and Battlefield Studios have confirmed the release date of Battlefield 6, the next military simulator in the franchise. The game will launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on October 10, 2025, the US-based publisher announced during the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event.
EA also announced the open beta launch dates for the upcoming first-person shooter. The free-to-play Battlefield 6 open beta tests will run for two weekends only: August 9-10 and August 14-17. Those who watched select creators during the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal stream on Twitch will get a chance to join the open beta in early access alongside the Battlefield Labs squad on August 7, two days before the first open beta test commences.
Battlefield 6 is set in 2027, not too far in the future. A high-profile assassination leads to major European countries leaving NATO, which is a major blow to the US and its allies. As the world's power balance shifts, a “massive private military corporation” called Pax Armata is ready to fill in the power vacuum. Pax Armata is equipped with the latest technology, is “unafraid to cross lines”, and is lavishly funded. The US and its allies will have to deal with its threat.
Byron Beede, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Battlefield, said in a press statement, “We knew when we set out to create the future of Battlefield, we had to nail the fundamentals of what players have loved about the series for more than 20 years. We’re back in our all-out warfare playground, with four world-class teams developing the game as a single squad known as Battlefield Studios. Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect have put their heart and soul into this next Battlefield and we’re thrilled to have shared our first look with you today and can’t wait to see you playing next weekend during the Open Beta.”
