Perplexity AI CEO Arvind Srinivas has announced a 14-day free trial for the company’s newly launched Perplexity Email Assistant, allowing all Pro users to experience its AI-powered email management features. Designed to function like a personal digital secretary, the Email Assistant automatically helps users sort, summarize, and respond to messages while maintaining privacy and data protection.

What is Perplexity Email Assistant?

The Perplexity Email Assistant is an AI productivity tool that integrates directly with a user’s Gmail or Outlook account. It acts as an intelligent companion capable of drafting responses, organizing inboxes, scheduling meetings, and categorizing messages using smart labels. Unlike traditional automation tools, this assistant adapts to individual communication styles, learning how users prioritize and respond to emails.
Users can query the assistant conversationally — for instance, “Show me all emails about the Q4 budget” or “Summarize my unread meeting requests.” The system then surfaces relevant information instantly, offering a snapshot of pending tasks or upcoming events.

How it works
To activate the assistant, users simply email assistant@perplexity.com from their registered account. Once connected, it begins organizing the inbox automatically. The AI can be included in ongoing email threads by CC’ing the address, allowing it to generate drafts, suggest meeting times, or manage follow-ups.
The feature’s smart labeling system automatically groups emails into categories such as “Action Required,” “Completed,” and “Urgent,” reducing the need for manual sorting. Perplexity’s AI also supports cross-device functionality, making it accessible on both desktop and mobile platforms.

Supported accounts and privacy
At launch, the Email Assistant supports Gmail and Outlook, catering to both personal and professional users. Perplexity has confirmed compliance with SOC 2 and GDPR standards, emphasizing that user emails are not stored or used for AI training. All scheduling data is auto-deleted after two weeks, ensuring privacy.

Availability
The Email Assistant is currently available to Perplexity Max subscribers and now to Pro users under a 14-day free trial. Srinivas said the move is meant to give users hands-on access to a secure, intelligent inbox assistant that enhances productivity without compromising privacy.
