Apple is still months away from launching its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series, but that has not stopped leaks from giving us an early preview of these devices. Over the past few weeks, multiple reports have hinted at visible changes on the front, which include camera, display, and battery upgrades, aimed at improving the overall experience. Here’s a closer look at what’s being tipped so far.
iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max: Expected changes
Over the past few weeks, multiple reports have suggested that Apple is likely to move Face ID components under the display. If this works as planned, the visible cutout could shrink to a single hole at the top left corner of the display, instead of the centre, giving the phone a noticeably different look from current iPhones. This means that Dynamic Island could be removed entirely, which could lead to a significantly narrower and less intrusive screen, maximising the 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display size on the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
Further, tipster Digital Chat Station has mentioned that while the Chinese variant of the iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a 5,000mAh battery, the global version could come with a slightly larger battery rated between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh. This would be a big upgrade over the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is believed to include a 5,088mAh battery.
However, the headline feature for the iPhone 18 Pro series could be the expected transition to the A20 Pro chip, which is expected to be manufactured on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. This chip fabrication technology is expected to deliver a 15% boost in speed and 30% improvement in energy efficiency. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is also rumoured to feature a mechanical variable aperture for the main 48MP lens, allowing for adjustment between f/1.4 and f/2.8 aperture, for better light control.
