After retiring from T20I and Test cricket and losing his position as captain of the Indian ODI team, many were curious to see how Rohit Sharma would handle playing just one format. The 38-year-old, however, made his first public appearance in a number of months and came out looking as good as ever. It is obvious that he has been working hard to maintain and even increase his level of fitness in recent months.

Rohit Sharma's appearance at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai on Tuesday caught everyone's attention as he received recognition for helping India to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy victory.

In recent years, Rohit's fitness has been called into doubt because he gained weight as he aged and was mocked online. As he looks to prolong his ODI career and be India's go-to option in the 2027 World Cup, the former Indian captain has responded with his actions rather than words. He appears in excellent condition.

Rohit's near-transformation sparked a lot of social media reactions as he graced the award function wearing a maroon suit and was spotted chatting with Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson.

Some also connected Rohit's change as a message to the selectors following his abrupt retirement from Test cricket, which coincided with rumors that he had been fired from the format's leadership role.

Now that the management appears to have moved on from Rohit completely and is considering Shubman Gill an all-format skipper, the former captain appears to have put his fitness first.

Rohit is expected to keep his current position as the opener as India travels to Australia for a three-match ODI series, starting from October 19.
