Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf finds himself in hot water after his derogatory remarks on India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Appearing as a guest on Pakistan's SAMAA TV, Yousuf while discussing the India vs Pakistan encounter at Asia Cup 2025, which the Men In Blue won by seven wickets, and the handshake row, referred Suryakumar Yadav as "Suarkumar Yadav".

Even after being corrected multiple times by the anchor moderating the discussion, he kept referring the India T20I skipper as "Suarkumar Yadav". This led to massive backlash on social media, also forcing the ex-Pakistan batter to address the matter.

However, even while doing so Yousuf refused to apologise and mentioned that he "didn’t mean any disrespect" before questioning Indian media over their ethics by highlighting Irfan Pathan's "dog" jibe at Shahid Afridi.

"I didn’t mean any disrespect to any sportsman who plays for his country with passion and grace, but why were the Indian media and people praising Irfan Pathan when he said that Shahid Khan Afridi was barking like a dog? Shouldn’t that have been rejected by everyone who talks about dignity and respect?" - Yousuf wrote on X.

Why Irfan called Afridi a 'dog'?

Irfan Pathan in a recent interview with Lallantop, discussed the episode between him and Afridi in length. The incident took place during the tour of Pakistan in 2006, when India won the ODIs but lost the Test series.

"During the 2006 tour, we were flying from Karachi to Lahore. Both teams were travelling together. Afridi came and put his hand on my head and messed up my hair. He asked me, 'How are you kid?'" Pathan said recalling the moment.

"I thought since when did you become my father. He behaved like a child. I was neither talking to him nor saying anything. After this Afridi said some bad things to me. His seat was near mine," the former India all-rounder added.

Agitated with Afridi's antics, Pathan went a step further and taunted him of "eating dog meat". However, as per Pathan the remark worked in his favour as Afridi remained quiet for the rest of the flight.

Pathan said: "Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq was sitting with me then. I asked him what kind of meat is available here. He told me meat of different animals are available. After this I asked whether dog meat is available. Razzaq was surprised to hear me and said, 'Hey Irfan why are you saying this?

"He (Afridi) has eaten dog meat, he has been barking for so long. After this Afridi could not say anything. If he said anything I would have said look he is barking more. After this he remained quiet for the entire flight. He understood from this incident that he would not be able to fight me verbally. That is why he never said anything to me again."
