MI vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wait to register a victory in away games in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) increased as they crashed to a four-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. This season, only SRH has failed to win an away game. They have lost every game they have played on the road.

Here are the five points that made the difference between victory and defeat in the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad...

Abhishek Sharma leads SRH run charge

On a pitch that was not conducive to strokeplay and the ball was not coming on to the bat nicely, Abhishek Sharma top scored for SRH with a 28-ball 47, with the help of seven fours. Abhishek put up a 59-run opening stand with Travis Head to give SRH a flying start before he was dismissed by MI captain Hardik Pandya.

Ishan Kishan fails on Wankhede ‘homecoming’

Ishan Kishan was an integral part of the Mumbai Indians set-up from 2018 to 2024 before he was released ahead of the mega auction last year and bought by SRH. The southpaw had a blazing debut for SRH when he had smashed an unbeaten 106 against Rajasthan Royals in their IPL opener. But since that knock runs had dried up for Ishan and has managed the scores of 0, 2, 2, 17 and 9*.

Back at the Wankhede, MI’s home ground, Ishan would have loved a big score against his former team, but that wasn’t to be as he was stumped off Will Jacks after scoring just 2 runs.

Wankhede pitch had the final say

With both teams packed with power hitters, a run fest was expected at the Wankhede. But that was not to be. The ball didn’t come on to the bat very well - especially when pace was taken off - and there was a fair amount of grip for spinners as well.

That SRH got to 162/5 was primarily because they got 21 runs off the 18th over when Heinrich Klaasen put Deepak Chahar to the sword and 22 runs off the last over when Aniket Verma smashed Pandya for two consecutive sixes and Pat Cummins finished the innings with another six.

Pat Cummins leads from the front

SRH captain Pat Cummins once again showed why he is arguably one of the best pacers in the world. Defending a low score, Cummins bowled excellent line and length, mixed his slower deliveries to deceive the batsmen and finished with 3 scalps.

Cummins dismissed key MI batsmen Rohit Sharma (26), Suryakumar Yadav (26) and Will Jacks (36), but his team's batsmen had failed to put enough runs on the board.

Hardik Pandya all but finishes it off

With the ball, MI captain Hardik Pandya conceded 42 runs off his 4 overs and took 1 wicket. But Pandya more than made up for it with the bat by smashing a 9-ball 21 to take his team to the verge of victory.

Pandya walked in to bat with MI at 128/4 and struck 2 fours off Cummins in the first over he faced and smashed Harshal Patel for a six and a four in the 17th over. But with one run needed, Pandya fell to Eshan Malinga, who went on to dismiss Naman Dhir in the same over, delaying the inevitable.
