Rohit Sharma, who has now retired from Test cricket, came together with Anil Kumble to launch the book 'The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife: A very unusual memoir' authored by Cheteshwar Pujara's wife, Puja. During the event the duo shared riveting tales from their cricketing journey. And while narrating numerous accounts, there came a point when Rohit mentioned an incident, which he was certain that it didn't make it to the book.

"I'm pretty sure it's not written in the book. Have you...is there anything regarding that West Indies tour of India A 2012. What happened?" asked Rohit to Pujara. The question by Rohit caught Pujara off-guard as Rohit broke out in a smile. Pujara in response said: "I haven't told, I mean she's aware but she's not uh...she doesn't have the details."

Then Pujara went to reveal a shocking incident of getting mugged in the West Indies, which up until now was kept a secret. "I'm a vegetarian. So we were looking for a vegetarian meal at night. And it was in T&T (Trinidad and Tobago), where we went out at 11 in the evening. So, we didn't find the meal but when we were walking back, I was mugged. I can't tell you in detail about it. But that's the story he is referring to," said Pujara.

Rohit quickly quipped: "Moral of the story is, sometimes he can be stubborn. We told him, we warned him, 'don't go in the night'. 9 baje ke baad raat ko bahar mat nikalna. Yeh West Indies hai. (Don't step out after 9 pm, this is the West Indies)."

Pujara was regarded as a Test specialist and played a major role in India's victory on Australian shores back in 2018-19. However, he has since lost his place from the national side with the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final being his last Test appearance. Pujara, however, continues to play the Ranji Trophy and amassed 402 runs in seven games for Saurashtra in the 2024–25 season.
