Video: 12-year-old boy in Maharashtra locks leopard in room. What happened next

A 12-year-old boy in Maharashtra's Malegaon managed to trap a leopard in a room when it walked in unexpectedly. According to reports, the child informed his parents about the big cat soon and it was rescued by the forest department soon after.

The CCTV footage of the incident is now viral. In it, the child can be seen occupied with his phone inside an office cabin when the leopard suddenly walked in. The boy, although alarmed, managed to sneak out of the room quietly before locking the door behind him.

There have been increasing instances of leopards entering residential areas in Maharashtra, especially in Nashik district. Last November, a leopard that had managed to sneak into a house in the district. The forest department officials found it hiding in the bedroom. A video of the forest officials carrying the tranquilised leopard out of the house in a stretcher has been doing rounds on social media.

Around the same time, there were multiple leopard sightings in Nashik, causing panic among residents. One of them was even caught while the others were being traced. The first leopard was seen in the heart of the city's Savata Nagar area while the second was spotted about 5 km away in Govind Nagar, NDTV reported. CCTV footage showed the big cats walking around in narrow lanes of the city.
