Priyanka Chopra jokes about Rs 1300 crore budget of SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi on Kapil Sharma Show: “Half went into my bank account?”

Global star Priyanka Chopra set the internet buzzing after appearing on the first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 4, where she dropped a playful yet telling hint about the massive scale of her upcoming collaboration with filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The film, titled Varanasi, also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, making it one of the most anticipated Indian projects currently in production.

During the episode, host Kapil Sharma brought up the widely reported figure surrounding Varanasi’s budget, said to be around Rs 1300 crore. With his trademark wit, Kapil remarked that no project associated with Priyanka is ever small and added that since she had joined forces with Rajamouli, the film’s scale had apparently reached jaw-dropping heights.

Kapil quipped, “No work that Priyanka does is small; everything is larger than life. Her next film is with SS Rajamouli, and you know he makes big-budget films. This time, since Priyanka has come on board, we have heard his film’s budget is Rs 1300 crores.” As the audience reacted with laughter and applause, Priyanka nodded in acknowledgment but stopped short of confirming the exact number.

Quick to turn the moment into comedy, the Barfi actress shot back, “Are you trying to imply that half of the budget has gone into my bank account?” Kapil immediately responded, “Matlab to yahi nikalta hai,” pushing the joke further. Priyanka, not missing a beat, replied, “Aap ulta naak pakadne ki koshish kar rahe hai?” keeping the exchange light, sharp, and entertaining.

The conversation then shifted to the film’s story, when Navjot Singh Sidhu asked Priyanka if she could reveal any details about the plot. Kapil stepped in, reminding everyone of Rajamouli’s legendary secrecy. He pointed out how even the iconic question of why Katappa killed Baahubali was kept under wraps until release, suggesting that Varanasi would be no different.

On the professional front, Priyanka has already begun shooting for Varanasi in Hyderabad. She recently shared pictures with her co-stars on Instagram, writing, “Working alongside these two legends of the Telugu and Malayalam industries, and coming together for an SS Rajamouli film, is already such a privilege.”

She added, “On top of that, we’re promoting our movie with the international media, almost a year ahead of its release! Seeing their reactions and the anticipation building is exciting to say the least. By God’s grace, we will live up to your expectations.”
