SUGAR Cosmetics CEO Vineeta Singh urged women to not get drawn in by comparisons and added that biological clock and career clocks were not "in conflict".
"Ladies, your biological clock and career clock are not in conflict. There is no career clock. Careers span decades and if you stay away from peer comparisons, there is actually no race, no clock," Singh wrote on Instagram on Thursday.
Recalling the time when motherhood and the launch of her company's first product coincided, Singh spoke about feeling underconfident about her life choices. However, she admitted that after watching her father complete five decades in research she felt that she would love to be in the business for as long as him.
"I welcomed my first child at the same time as the first @trysugar product and felt quite underconfident about my life choices at the moment."
"But recently when my dad completed 50 years in research, it struck me that I’d love to be in business for 50 years & counting. On that kind of time scale, the concept of a clock, a race, few months here and there seems trivial," she wrote.
Singh concluded the post by asking women to worry more about career choices and not about the speed of growth or bumps, along the way.
"Worry about driving in the wrong career lane for sure, but not so much about the speed or a few pit stops here and there!" she wrote.
Speaking to CNN News18 in February, Singh had mentioned consistency, courage, and corporate governance as her success recipe.
