Soham Parekh, the Indian tech professional who made headlines for simultaneously holding full-time positions at multiple startups, has recently revealed that his life hasn't changed much since the moonlighting controversy.
"My life hasn’t changed one bit," he wrote on X, along with the screenshot of a conversation where he was asked how he managed such an intense workload. Parekh’s simple, almost nonchalant response: "I love what I do. Lol," followed by, "I don’t have anything else to do."
The controversy surrounding Parekh initially erupted when Suhail Doshi, co-founder of Mixpanel and founder of Playground AI, publicly accused him on X of moonlighting at several startups simultaneously, allegedly deceiving employers. Doshi's warning, "PSA: there’s a guy named Soham Parekh (in India) who works at 3–4 startups at the same time. He’s been preying on YC companies and more. Beware,” sent shockwaves through Silicon Valley and India’s tech community, with many labeling it one of the most audacious employment scams in recent history. Doshi claimed Parekh was fired from one of his companies within a week of his duplicity being discovered in 2023.
Despite the criticism, Parekh had admitted in an interview with TBPN that he had indeed worked for multiple companies concurrently, citing financial hardship as his primary motivation. "It is true," he told the interviewer. "I’m not proud of what I’ve done. It’s not something I endorse either… No one really likes to work 140 hours a week, but I had to do it out of necessity.”
Since the initial uproar, Parekh has joined Darwin Studios, an AI-driven media platform, and has pledged to focus solely on this single role moving forward. “This is the only thing I am going to focus on. They’ve put a bet on me, and I have a lot to prove," he said in the interview.
