Anxiety is mounting in India as violence linked to the escalating US–Israel–Iran conflict spills across parts of the Gulf, home to a large Indian diaspora. With explosions reported in and around key Gulf countries, families in India are increasingly worried about the safety of their loved ones living and studying abroad.
That fear found a powerful voice on X, where a post by a lawyer describing his daughter’s panic in Dubai went viral. In his post, lawyer Sanjoy Ghose wrote that his daughter, who is studying in Dubai, kept calling him through the night in fear as missiles were allegedly seen and heard nearby. Reflecting on parenthood, he wrote about once believing that fathers could fix anything, only to realise now, as an ageing parent himself, how scared fathers often are when their children are in danger.

Internet offers help
The post triggered an outpouring of empathy and support. Several users urged him not to panic, reassuring him that the situation could stabilise soon. Others went a step further, offering tangible help. One user said their family in Dubai would be happy to host the student if she wanted to move out of her hostel temporarily. Another Dubai resident offered shelter, saying his family, including his elderly mother, would gladly take care of her for a few days.
Amid the wave of concern, social media also became a space for urgent queries. One user sought advice for a close friend stranded in Dubai with her mother, asking whether travelling by road to Muscat and flying back to India from there would be a safer option under the current circumstances.
As uncertainty continues, India has stepped in with an official response. On Saturday, the Indian Embassy issued an advisory for Indian nationals stranded at airports in the UAE following temporary airspace closures triggered by the conflict. The embassy said it was coordinating closely with UAE authorities and airlines to assist affected passengers.
“The Embassy and Consulate are in touch with the UAE authorities and airlines for taking care of the Indian passengers stranded at the airports in UAE due to temporary and precautionary airspace closure,” the advisory said.
