Players Unknown Battlegrounds is the most popular video game in India, particularly its mobile version. PUBG Mobile has grown in popularity among Indian audiences with millions of players competing for the coveted “Chicken Dinner”.
In an attempt to tighten its grip on India’s booming mobile gaming market, game developer, Tencent Games recently introduced a Lite version of PUBG Mobile. And, the strategy seems to have paid off. PUBG Mobile Lite recently hit the number one spot on Google’s Play Store within three days of its launch. PUBG Mobile Lite already has over 5 million downloads.
PUBG Mobile Lite aimed to make the game more accessible for users with lower-spec phones. And, entry-level smartphones, which don’t support PUBG Mobile, are quite popular among Indian audiences. Making a version of PUBG that is compatible with devices used by millions of Indians will only serve to grow the game’s already vast user base.
The Lite version of PUBG Mobile is built with Unreal Engine 4 and optimised for handsets with less RAM. The game brings the smooth and fast gameplay synonymous with PUBG Mobile to lower-end smartphones.
PUBG Mobile Lite can be played on any device with 2GB of RAM and promises high-quality graphics and high definition audio with 3D sound effects. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and is 491 MB in size.
The Lite version of the games features all the maps including Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi. The map sizes have been shrunk, and the number of players in matches is limited to 60 players. Additionally, matches in PUBG Mobile Lite are limited to 10 minutes. PUBG Mobile Lite replaces Royale Pass with Winner Pass, which lets you unlock achievements and rewards faster.
The concept of PUBG Mobile Lite is very similar to that of the Lite PC version of Players Unknown Battlegrounds – Make the game more accessible to audiences and grow the user base.
