Bengaluru woman's helmetless pillion laptop work sparks debate

The video from Bengaluru features a woman riding pillion on a motorcycle. With a backpack on her back, she has placed the laptop on the bike seat, between her and the male rider.

Yet another video has surfaced from Bengaluru showing a woman working on her laptop while riding pillion on a motorcycle, capturing the stereotyped image of India’s IT capital where it’s not uncommon to see tech professionals engrossed with work in their laptops in public spaces.

“Tell me you are in Bangalore without telling me you are in Bangalore,” the video is captioned in a Reddit thread.

The short, undated clip shot from another moving vehicle, posted three days ago, features a woman riding pillion on a motorcycle. With a backpack on her back, she has placed the laptop on the bike seat, between her and the male rider.

Immersed in her work, the woman plops up the laptop to show the screen to the rider who briefly takes a look at it.
While the rider is wearing a helmet, the woman is not.

Not everyone was impressed with the not-so-safe practice of using a laptop while sitting helmetless on a two-wheeler.

“Are they trying to die? Because that’s going to get them killed,” a Reddit user commented.

“Sometimes I think if we had a local train kind of thing, this would just be like Mumbai,” another user wrote.
Another user, who termed the act as multitasking, was not too surprised.

“Wait, isn't it normal to ride and use laptop? I mean that's multitasking. Imagine cruising on a highway at 90-100 kmph and working on Excel sheet. What a feeling,” the user wrote.

In May this year, a similar picture from the Karnataka capital showed woman working on her laptop while riding pillion on a Rapido bike through the Koramangala-Agara-Outer Ring Road, a stretch infamous for its traffic jams. The image was shared by a Twitter user who labelled it as a "Peak Bengaluru moment."

Last month, a person was seen in a viral video, working on their laptop in a darkened movie theatre during a screening of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan at a cinema in Bengaluru.
