OnePlus 7 Pro: Specifications and features confirmed so far

The OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro are all set to launch tomorrow in an event in Bangalore at 8.30 pm IST

May 13, 2019 / 14:38 IST

The OnePlus 7 series is all set to launch globally tomorrow. With its typical marketing strategy, OnePlus has revealed a few key features of its upcoming flagship products that would compete straight with iPhone XS, Galaxy S10, Pixel 3, amongst others. Here are the five things confirmed by OnePlus as of today.

Pop-up selfie camera

The OnePlus 7 Pro would be the first OnePlus device to come with a motorised pop-up selfie camera. With an all-screen design and no-notch display, the OnePlus 7 Pro will rely on a 16MP  pop-up camera up-front for selfies, just like the Oppo F11 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro.

Display with HDR10+

OnePlus is betting big on the display technology used in the OnePlus 7 series. The OnePlus 7 Pro is rumoured to have a QHD+ display with 90 Hz refresh rate, which is the company’s first. On top of it, OnePlus has confirmed that the Pro variant would come equipped with HDR10+ support.

The significant difference between HDR10 and HDR10+ is that the former has a peak brightness of 3,000 nits compared to HDR10+’s 4,000 nits which can be useful for streaming high-resolution content on Netflix, Prime and others. OnePlus 7 Pro has also received an A+ rating by DisplayMate for recording exceptional score in all tests.

Triple camera setup

The third feature confirmed by OnePlus is a triple camera setup on the OnePlus 7 Pro. While the company has not released an official spec sheet giving information about the megapixel count or the sensors used, it is rumoured that both variants would come with a primary 48MP f/1.6 sensor. While the standard OnePlus 7 is said to have an 8MP telephoto sensor, the Pro model would come equipped with an additional 16MP ultra-wide sensor.

UFS 3.0 storage

The Galaxy Fold was supposed to be the first smartphone to come equipped with Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0. However, after its unfortunate display incident, the foldable smartphone’s commercial release has been delayed indefinitely. Hence, OnePlus now will be the first smartphone to offer UFS 3.0 which is a new storage standard that ensures faster transfer rates.

200 per cent stronger vibration motor

The Premium OnePlus device would feature a 200 percent stronger vibration motor. Previously, OnePlus users have complained about their devices having a very weak vibration motor. OnePlus claims to have fixed the issue and would also offer users to customise the vibration intensity in Settings ranging from Low to High.

Other rumoured features that have been floating on the internet since months would officially be put to rest after the company unveils the OnePlus 7 Pro series on May 14 at 8.30pm IST
