Indians living abroad are often seen forming vibrant communities, but a recent incident in Adelaide has sparked debate over their growing presence. A local resident has claimed that his neighbourhood park had been “taken over” by Indian immigrants, leaving him as the only White Australian among hundreds of visitors.
The man was visiting Klemzig Recreation Reserve in the suburb of Klemzig when he recorded a video of the scene. As reported by the Noticer News, he estimated that over 200 people of Indian or South Asian appearance were in the park. “There was not a White person in sight, and over 200 Indians,” he said.
He added, “This is not what the Anzacs fought for. This is not diversity, this is not multiculturalism, this is simply a takeover in real time, a war with no bullets.” He said he felt out of place and that people stared at him as if he did not belong. The man also claimed that he saw an Australian father and daughter turn back after seeing what he described as crowds of foreigners.
This incident comes amid wider discussions in Australia about immigration and multiculturalism. Earlier, Bianca Colecchia, a One Nation party official, faced criticism for posting a video filmed in Melbourne on New Year’s Eve, asking viewers to “spot the Westerner.”
In the caption, Colecchia wrote, “It doesn’t look like a Western nation at all right? Yet, this is the reality of Melbourne CBD on New Year’s Eve.” She added, This is an issue. Because no matter how individually they might all be good people, collectively, as a nation, it is a problem, one that erodes cultural identity and social cohesion.” She called multiculturalism a “failed concept.”
The video received strong reactions online. One user wrote, “Looks like it’s working pretty damn well. Peaceful and happy vibes.” Another commented, “This has to be a joke haha, you are an immigrant yourself, what makes you more Australian than non-Westerners? I'm Asian and was born in Australia. My parents came to Australia decades ago before you even got here, contributing to the country's economy and you seriously think that you are more entitled to call Australia home just because you are from Europe? This is hilarious.” Another said, “I'll take you seriously when you can explain what 'western' country means? West to where?”

Responding to the criticism, Colecchia said that showing “such an objective fact as demographic change in Melbourne” should not be considered harmful. She also added that migration from “culturally incompatible” countries without integration and assimilation can have consequences.
Official data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that more than 2 million immigrants have arrived in Australia since the Albanese government took office in May 2022. Net overseas migration reached 1.27 million over the past three financial years, marking record levels of population growth.
