Millionaire and biotech CEO Bryan Johnson, who spends millions each year on far-out longevity treatments, has recently revealed that he keeps only three things in his bedroom -- his bed, a laser face shield to reduce wrinkles, and a device to measure his nighttime erections, Time Magazine reported.
"I only sleep in here. No work, no reading," the tech entrepreneur told the publication, adding that nighttime erections act as a marker for biological age.
Elaborating on his nighttime routine, the biotech CEO said he goes to bed by 8.30 pm and wakes up before 6 am. The 46-year-old's efforts to turn his body into that of an 18-year-old doesn't only involve a peculiar sleeping arrangement; he takes more than 100 pills daily, wears a cap to project red light into his scalp, follows a strict diet, does high-intensity exercise, and aggressively measures his body's age through blood tests, ultrasounds, MRIs, and colonoscopies, Business Insider reported.
His routine for optimising his health, Project Blueprint, costs up to $2 million a year.
When asked about his ultimate goal, Bryan Johnson told The Guardian, "Don’t die.” And, he wants as many people as possible to join him.
Some of his experiments have been more controversial than usual, like taking blood plasma from his 18-year-old son Talmage and donating some of his own plasma to his 70-year-old father. But, the millionaire soon abandoned the practice because of a lack of results.
Johnson, however, is not alone in his quest for longevity. An increasing number of the world's richest people have been investing in expanding the human lifespan. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman invested $180 million in a biotech company aiming to "add 10 years to healthy human lifespan". PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel has given $3.5 million to a nonprofit to make "90 the new 50 by 2030," Business Insider reported.
