The survey suggests that the pursuit of deeper, more meaningful connections is transforming dating dynamics globally.

A recent global survey conducted by Bumble, the women-first dating platform, has shed light on significant shifts in dating behaviours, particularly among Gen Z women. Contrary to perceptions that younger generations are abandoning dating, the study suggests that they are redefining romantic expectations and raising the bar for sincerity and emotional connection in relationships.

The survey, which included over 40,000 Bumble users worldwide, featured responses from more than 2,000 singles in India. It highlighted an optimistic outlook on dating, as individuals increasingly focus on finding meaningful connections despite the challenges of modern relationships.

Key dating trends for 2025:

Micro-mance: A revival of romantic ideals has emerged, with over half of women globally embracing romance and valuing meaningful interactions over casual encounters.

DWM (Date With Me): Transparent and unfiltered portrayals of dating are gaining traction. Approximately 41% of singles worldwide expressed a preference for content that authentically represents dating experiences.

On The Same (Fan) Page: Shared interests, particularly unique hobbies, are becoming critical factors in attraction. In the UK, 60% of singles highlighted the importance of connecting over mutual passions.

Male Casting: A shift in traditional gender roles has spurred conversations around masculinity. Men are increasingly re-evaluating societal stereotypes, fostering more open and progressive relationship dynamics.

Future-Proofing: Growing concerns about long-term stability are influencing dating choices, with women prioritising partners who demonstrate emotional reliability and practical foresight.

Guys That Get It: Men are evolving as emotional support systems and dependable friends, enabling stronger connections. This trend reflects a broader movement towards fostering trust and mutual respect in relationships.

Women leading the change:

Bumble’s findings reveal that women are prioritising emotional depth, honesty, and shared values in relationships, seeking genuine connections over superficial interactions. The report also emphasised that women are less willing to compromise on their standards, challenging men to adopt more authentic and empathetic approaches to dating.

The survey suggests that the pursuit of deeper, more meaningful connections is transforming dating dynamics globally. Single individuals are increasingly valuing partners who align with their personal goals and beliefs, indicating a shift away from the era of casual dating towards more enduring and emotionally fulfilling relationships.
