Masterchef Australia’s Gary Mehigan has a 'Peak Bengaluru' moment, visits Rameshwaram Cafe

Masterchef Australia’s Gary Mehigan is in Bengaluru for an extravagant pop-up dinner scheduled for Saturday at Taj MG Road in the city. The renowned chef also took an autorickshaw ride with other Masterchef Australia judges Matt Preston and George Calombaris. Mehigan also visited the iconic Rameshwaram Cafe to try out South-Indian delicacies.

On his official Instagram page, Mehigan shared a story that featured him riding in an autorickshaw. “Bengaluru commute,” he wrote while sharing the clip on Instagram Stories. He received a warm welcome in the ‘Silicon Valley of India’ and enjoyed a lavish dinner at Lupa.

For breakfast on Saturday, Mehigan paid a visit to the popular Rameshwaram Cafe and shared a video while gorging on ragi dosa, ghee roast dosa, ghee podi idli, kesari baath. He completed his hearty meal with a filter coffee.

“Well that was a ‘proper’ dosa. Love this place @therameshwaramcafe. We ate ragi dosa, ghee roast dosa, medu vada, ghee idli podi, kesari baath and some seriously great filter coffee! I’ll be back,” he wrote in the caption of the post.

Meanwhile, the chef is in Bengaluru for an interesting pop-up dinner event organised by Conosh, a community of food lovers that is a “hot-pot of online culinary classes, delivery of home-cooked meals & pop-up experiences”, according to its Instagram bio.

The pop-up dinner experience is a 7-course affair at Taj MG Road with only eight limited seats. The price for vegetarian and non-vegetarian 7-course meals prepared by the chefs is Rs 29,999. It was also organised in Delhi and Mumbai recently.

In addition, the Masterchef Australia judges will give an eggless masterclass full of tips, trips and anecdotes in the city on Sunday.
