Every day, thousands of drivers take to Delhi NCR’s busy roads, working long hours to support their families. For many, the job is not just about transport, but about building a stable future. One driver’s journey shows how steady effort over the years can make a real difference.
A Delhi-based driver working with Uber has completed 50,000 trips on the platform and says his highest monthly earning reached around Rs 1.2 lakh. His story was shared on Instagram by drivingwithuber_india.
In the video, he introduces himself by saying, “My name is Hazrat, and I am from UP. I worked in a sewing company for three years. After that I got a car through a friend’s help.”
He revealed, “I have completed 50,000 trips and My monthly highest earning is around Rs 1, 20,000.”
He explains that joining Uber was not an easy decision at first. He was unsure if he could manage the technology required for the job. He said, “My friends suggested me to join Uber. They told me the work is good. But I told them ‘I am not educated, you have to check location and all. How will I be able to drive for Uber?’”
His friends encouraged him to try, “They said, its not very hard. With time you will get experience.”
As reported by Hindustan Times, before moving to Delhi, Hajrat worked in his village repairing bike parts. Later, he shifted to the capital and took up stitching work. In 2014, he bought his first autorickshaw. Over time, he managed to buy two more, building a small fleet. One of the autos was driven by his brother before he moved to Gujarat.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic affected his work. Like many drivers, he faced financial pressure and had to sell two of his autorickshaws. Hajrat continued driving the remaining auto through the Uber platform.
In 2024, he sold his autorickshaw and bought a car, continuing his work with Uber. He says his association with the platform began when he first purchased an autorickshaw, and it marked a turning point in his career.
His daily routine is demanding. He begins driving around 7am. “My last trip of the day is around 9pm. Sometimes 10pm,” he said. He works for nearly 14 hours a day, taking short breaks only for meals. On most days, he completes between 20 and 30 trips, mainly in the Gurgaon area.
Despite spending long hours on the road, he says most passengers are respectful, “Maybe 1 out of 100 customers could be rude, but most people are polite,” he said.
Hajrat now lives in Delhi with his wife and three children. His eldest child is 10 years old, and all three study in private schools. He said, “I earn enough through Uber to educate them.” He says providing good education for his children is his main aim.
