The India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi drew prominent figures from the international technology sector, but alongside policy discussions and formal declarations, more personal observations have also attracted attention online.
Sara Hooker, co-founder and chief executive of Adaptation, attended the summit and later reflected on her experience of the city in a post on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. She shared an image of freshly sliced fruit and wrote: “One of the things I will miss the most about Delhi is fruit that tastes like fruit.”
One of the things I will miss the most about Delhi is fruit that tastes like fruit. For anyone who grew up outside the US, there is the realization that in the US fruit somehow tastes like it was sanitized. pic.twitter.com/7RA2oW5Xfl — Sara Hooker (@sarahookr) February 21, 2026
In a further remark, she added: “For anyone who grew up outside the US, there is the realization that in the US fruit somehow tastes like it was sanitized.”
Her comments prompted a strong reactions from users on the platform, with many engaging in a discussion about agricultural practices and flavour.
One user responded: “That's because it's genetically modified in the US and here in India we still have some 'desi' varieties left.”
Another wrote: “True. In USA, the fruit is plucked much before it reaches its ripe stage. Especially for peaches, plums etc. But if you go to farmer’s market then you get more ripened and tasty oranges, tangerines, peaches. Banana and Apples are good everywhere.”
A third user added: “Interesting... Even Australian fruits are great... Till I taste Mangoes, which are nowhere close to Indian mango varieties.”
A further comment read: “Sometimes it’s not the fruit. It’s the memory attached to it.”
During her time in Delhi, Hooker also posted about other everyday experiences that stood out to her. She remarked on seeing Bata as a globally recognised footwear brand, sampled Parle G biscuits for the first time and shared her experience of being caught in heavy traffic in the capital.
While such cultural observations circulated online, the summit itself continued to gather international support. The New Delhi AI Impact Summit Declaration has been endorsed by 70 countries to date. Officials have indicated that the figure is expected to exceed 80 by Saturday, when the final version of the declaration is scheduled to be released and the event formally concludes.
In addition, the government extended the summit’s exhibition by an extra day in response to significant public interest and a high volume of visitors.
