With Netflix announcing 22 new titles for this year, we noticed quite a few firsts for some of the actors and filmmakers. Some fresh faces are making their debut on the streaming platform, as well as some veterans stepping onto new territory. Here’s a look at a few artists who will be making their debut with Netflix in different capacities:

Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon marks her debut as a producer with Do Patti, a movie she is jointly producing with Kathha Pictures. Billed as an edge-of-the-seat thriller, Do Patti will also feature actor Kajol. Sanon, who is also starring in the film, has called it her most challenging role so far.

Junaid Khan

Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan will make his foray into the world of acting with a YRF Entertainment-backed film directed by Siddharth P Malhotra of Hichki fame. The period drama is about a journalist who wields his pen and takes on a powerful role model of society in a bid to uncover a series of incidents and bring those in power to book. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari and Shalini Pandey.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Known for his larger-than-life characters and dazzling visuals, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is considered an auteur by many who are in awe of his art. The filmmaker is now making his debut on OTT with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Set in pre-independent India against the backdrop of the freedom movement, the period drama stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sonakshi Sinha among others.

Vaani Kapoor

After winning appreciation for her role as a transgender woman in 2021’s Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Vaani Kapoor is all set to make her debut in an OTT series with Mandala Murders. The gritty crime thriller sees her in the role of a detective who is trying to solve a slew of murders which are part of a plan of a century-old secret society. Vaibhav Raj Gupta of Gullak fame will be seen sharing screen space with her.

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni

Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni makes her acting debut with Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives. The Delhi-based jewellery designer who is Neetu Singh and the late Rishi Kapoor’s daughter has stayed away from showbiz in the past. This will be her first stint in front of the camera.
