'Silver, gold coins are flying off shelves': Blinkit's Albinder Dhindsa on Diwali buying spree

Blinkit founder and CEO Albinder Dhindsa has said that gold and silver coins were "flying off the shelves" during Diwali as orders poured in using the 10-minute delivery app. He added that one of the orders placed via that app included 100 silver coins.

"Silver and Gold coins are flying off the shelves even today! They definitely make for a perfect Diwali gift," Dhindsa wrote on X and shared a photo of the order of the 100-silver coins.

Blinkit's service during Diwali had made headlines last week when a customer ordered a kurta for his German colleague using Blinkit as a festive gesture. The colleague, who was visiting from Germany, was apparently caught unaware when he arrived at the office and saw everybody in traditional wear.

Not wanting him to feel left out, the company’s Indian employees contributed to buying him a kurta which was delivered to their workplace within 10 minutes.

“My colleague from Germany visited the India office today and was surprised to see everyone wearing traditionals (We had our Diwali Puja in the office today). Everyone wanted him to wear Kurta Pajama and to my surprise, Blinkit was delivering in less than 10 minutes! Amazing!” wrote X user Debarun Talukdar. He also shared a picture of his German colleague dressed in the kurta pajama he ordered from Manyavar via the delivery app.

The post caught the attention of Albinder Dhindsa.

“Glad we could help,” tweeted Dhindsa. He said that Blinkit had begun listing Manyavar outfits on its app only a couple of days ago. “No reason now to not wear a kurta for office Diwali parties,” the CEO of Blinkit joked.
