Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has refuted reports that his food delivery startup hired a woman to drive a motorcycle around Indore as a promotional stunt. The rebuttal came after a video emerged on social media showing a woman dressed in Zomato reds, driving a motorcycle without a helmet.
The video was shared on the microblogging platform X by a user named Rajiv Mehta, who claimed that Zomato’s Indore Marketing Head had come up with the idea of hiring a model to drive around the city with an empty Zomato bag.
Deepinder Goyal responded to the video by pointing out that the company had nothing to do with the model and, in fact, did not have an “Indore Marketing Head” at all. He added that Zomato does not endorse riding without a helmet.
“Hey! We had absolutely nothing to do with this,” tweeted Goyal. “We don’t endorse helmet-less biking. Also, we don’t have a Indore Marketing Head.”

This seems to be someone just “free-riding” on our brand. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with women delivering food - we have hundreds… https://t.co/xxNPU7vU8L

The video and the subsequent denial garnered several amused comments on social media. “Any publicity is good publicity,” wrote one commenter. “CEO is trying to do damage control,” said another.
