A Delhi man's harrowing account of a brutal road rage attack has gone viral on X, detailing how he was left bloodied and covered in glass shards after an unknown assailant smashed his car windows with a brick in broad daylight. Tushar Gupta, an entrepreneur, shared the terrifying experience that unfolded while he was driving to work.
Gupta said that on Thursday, around 9.55 am, an unknown man on a two-wheeler chased him for almost three kilometres, aggressively demanding he step out of his car. When Gupta refused, the attacker blocked his vehicle, began smashing the driver's side window with his elbow, and attempted to break the rear-view mirror in a fit of "mad rage."
Despite the initial assault, Gupta continued driving slowly due to the high-rush, narrow road. The assailant, however, persisted, picking up a brick from the roadside and completely smashing the car's rear window.
Within a couple of minutes, using a brick, he broke both the windows on the front seats. The rear window was gone, and he was attempting to break the main window on the front side. Taken aback, I was processing what was going on while glass shards were all over my body. pic.twitter.com/CNV1oS7yQj— Tushar Gupta (@Tushar15_) June 28, 2025
The terrifying escalation continued as the man repeatedly blocked Gupta's car, systematically smashing all the windows with the brick, aiming to hit him directly. "Within a couple of minutes, using a brick, he broke both the windows on the front seats. The rear window was gone, and he was attempting to break the main window on the front side," Gupta described, adding that he was "processing what was going on while glass shards were all over my body."
Injuries and aftermath
Gupta shared images revealing the extent of the damage – the shattered windows and a significant crack on the front windshield. Photos also showed bloodstains and glass shards inside his car, with Gupta noting visible injuries on his body, which were documented in police paperwork. He emphasised the danger of broken glass, which can cause "very minute but critical injuries."
Fortunately, authorities responded promptly. "Within minutes, I called up the emergency numbers, and within an hour, the police investigation was underway," Gupta stated. "The medical paperwork was also done in the next three hours, along with an elaborate statement that I gave to the authorities. I must add that the response was prompt."
A growing urban menace
Gupta highlighted road rage as a "prevailing threat" in New Delhi, attributing it to "notorious elements" often on two-wheelers without helmets and with outdated registrations. He urged the Delhi Police and DTP Traffic to apprehend the assailant, stating that while his car and injuries would be fixed, the incident raises concerns about the safety of others, particularly those travelling with family or friends. "The overall experience leaves one wondering if urban centres are now being held hostage by rogue elements who have nothing to lose, and are a danger to themselves and the society," he concluded.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic road rage case in east Delhi's Geeta Colony, where a 20-year-old was fatally stabbed after his scooter grazed another vehicle.
