It is a rough road ahead for lawyer and leader of Swaraj Abhiyan party Prashant Bhushan, who took to twitter to take a dig at Yogi Adityanath’s anti-Romeo squads but landed in troubled when he drew parallels between eve teasers and Lord Krishna.

Until Monday morning Bhushan faced a backlash on Twitter but by noon things got ugly. At 12:30 today, there was an ink attack at the lawyer’s house. To add to Bhushan’s trouble, Lucknow police has registered an FIR against him.

Two complaints have been filed against the accused for making derogatory comments regarding a Hindu god. Uttar Pradesh Congress spokesperson Syed Zeeshan Haider at Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station filed a complaint and BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Bagga registered a complaint against Bhushan at Tilak Marg police in Delhi.
How did it all start? The tweet that went unnoticed in the whole Bhushan-Krishna fiasco was from a colleague of Bhushan, Anupam, who wrote about anti-Romeo squads in Uttar Pradesh.
But, it was Bhushan’s reply that escalated the matter and all his efforts to clarify his words and intention have been in vain.
In his defense, Bhushan said that an undesired meaning has been drawn from his tweet. He said that his intention was not to hurt anybody’s sentiment and it was directed to criticise the new UP chief minister’s army which is out on the roads to keep a check on eve-teasing.
In a series of tweets Bhushan clarified his position, “My tweet on Romeo brigade being distorted. My position is: By the logic of Romeo Brigade, even Lord Krishna would look like eve teaser.”
He added: “We have grown up with legends of young Krishna teasing Gopis. The logic of Romeo squad would criminalise this. Didn’t intend to hunt (sic) sentiments.”
Bhushan went to the extent of putting up a snapshot of Krishna and Radha on his Twitter page, which he said was displayed in his home.
