Recently, one such conversation caught attention when a Bengaluru-based recruitment founder revealed that a candidate placed through his platform had secured an unusually high-paying role.
According to Sumit Singh, founder of the recruitment platform Rightfit, a candidate placed through his company last year secured a job paying Rs 13 lakh per month, equal to an annual package of Rs 1.5 crore. The candidate reportedly had only two years of professional experience.
Singh revealed this while responding to a discussion on X (formerly Twitter) about tech salaries in India. The conversation started when a user named Saurabh said that after three to four years of experience, a monthly salary of Rs 5 lakh is possible for tech professionals.
Another participant commented that higher salaries are possible but could have personal costs. They said, “Even earning Rs 9 lakh per month is doable, but it can cause the employee to lose sleep.”

Singh also spoke about the platform’s future plans to help talented candidates secure top jobs. He added, “This year, the plan is to double down on this and make sure candidates with amazing proof of work land even better jobs!”
He mentioned that the role was with a series A-funded startup with a small team, showing that even small companies can offer high salaries for the right talent.
The announcement drew interest on X, with users expressing curiosity about the candidate’s work. One asked, “I would like to know the portfolio of that candidate.” Others focused on the salary itself. A user commented, “Holy f*** 13 LPM.”
Some highlighted that the remote nature of the job made it even more valuable. One user wrote, “This being remote is like 3x value.”
